March 2006 Meeting Minutes

Tim Dennis and Sue Parkins welcomed the group to the Rocky Mountain Lawson User Group Meeting, which had 50 attendees.

Toni Kennedy introduced herself and the other Lawson representatives who have attended the user group meeting. We watched a Lawson video featuring Dean Hager talking to the user group about the future of Lawson. He talked about Landmark “The future technology”, What is Lawson 9.0, Enterprise Performance Management Suite 9.0, Business Process Management Suite 9.0 and Lawson System Foundation Suite (LSF) 9.0. You do not need to be on 9.0 applications to use these 9.0 suites. Lawson has stopped shipping environment 8.1. LSF 9.0 is the preferred product which comes with an additional fee, there is a promotional savings of 25% for all Lawson clients. Most clients will see a fee of $18,000 for the purchase of licenses for LSF 9.0. Why should you move, the technology has more functionality, simplicity, enable Lawson to serve you better and Lawson has designed the product. 

Darci Snyder gave an update on new products, Lawson enhancements in 9.0, new application, Lawson strategic sourcing 9.0, LBI 9.0 (renaming of Lawson reporting module), Reporting Services 9.0, Decommission announcements, Lawson Education Updates, Training Statistics, Lawson Professional Services, GSC Survey results and Lawson CUE 2006.

Sherry Diedrich with MHC & Robyn Myers of Colorado Springs Utilities gave a presentation on Electronic Pay Stubs. They gave an overview of their companies, Colorado Springs Utilities’ Case Study, MHC Electronic Pay Stub Overview and MHC Electronic Pay Stub Demonstration.

Lawson addressed questions from the User Group. The users had multiple questions surrounding the merger and Lawson.  Also, what the merger means to Lawson clients. They also asked technical questions surrounding 9.0 and future enhancements and products that would be available.

Lori Riesselman, product manager with Lawson gave a presentation on Lawson System Foundation 9.0. She talked about Lawson’s path to Landmark and IBM partnership. Her presentation talked about the LSF 9.0 environment, contents of the product, LSF as the whole solution, additional notes, all Lawson platforms supported, except iSeries & HP/Itanium, Continue database support for Oracle, SWL Server, DB2, Continued LDAP support for MS ADAM and Tivoli Directory Server.  Apache/Tomcat is no longer supported with LSF 9.0. LSF 9 delivers clients the best total solution, great quality at great value and ease of transition and/or implementation. Mike Riley, with Lawson professional services, talked about the reorganization of the service department.  Lawson partnered with Hackett so that clients can see how you compare to other companies. They provide best practices, matrix and how do you leverage Lawson to maximize your investment. He also talked about different types of services Lawson professional services provide.

 

 

 

Burke Stucker, financial product strategist did a presentation on What’s New in Lawson Enterprise Financial Mgmt Suite 9.0. It gives you:

-         Better reporting over the data you have

-         Deriving business benefits from compliance

-         Driving business efficiency through good practice

-         Realizing the value of IT investments

-         Cost containment

He talked about what’s enhancements are available in 9.0 Financials for General Accounting, Project Accounting, Billing and Revenue Management, Cash Ledger, Asset Management, Lease Management, Accounts Payable, Lawson Expense Management, Accounts Receivable and Grant Management

Sue Parkins and Charlene Childs from Denver Health gave a presentation on implementing Lawson Self Service. They talked about their goals, approach, post evaluation, administration, trouble shooting, customizations and did a demo for the user group.
