3nd Quarter of 2003 Meeting Minutes

Deidra Walker welcomed the group to the 2nd quarter Rocky Mountain Lawson User
Group Meeting, which had 20 attendees.
John Welch
from Paradigm did an overview of BSI Tax
Factory and Tax Locator. He talked about several items:

Mapping tax authorities and taxes in BSI. |

How to set up SUI overrides in BSI. |

The importance of testing your BSI set up. |
 |
When and how you should run PR113. |

The importance of location codes with Tax Locator,
especially if you are a client in
multiple states. |
John also suggested using address verification software
that will validate address you have on employees in Lawson. The company he
recommended to the group was Intelligence Service. Information can be found

John Welch’s used two Word documents in his
presentation:
Julie Abbaticola from NetASPx
presented an overview of 8.0
upgrade planning and lessons learned. She talked about:

The upgrade project in 16 steps. |

Upgrade tools. |
 |
Lessons learn from environment, application and data
perspectives. |
She also gave the group additional consideration with
planning an upgrade.

Dave Amen of Amen Consulting, Inc. led the group in an open discussion on how
everyone’s upgrade is going.
The group talked about Lid vs. Portal, how stop
& start of Lawson changes in 8.0x and Dave shared with the group a Source to
Target drawing to help us understand how the upgrade programs work.
The group got a break for lunch,
which everyone enjoyed on their own
at various restaurants.
MSP's
and CTP's were a hot topic at the last ROMLUG meeting, so Ron
Wright with NetASPx agreed to continue his presentation:
MSPs and CTPs -
Part II. He went briefly through his Part I overview of MSPs and
CTPs for the ROMLUG members who missed last meeting, then explained how to
deal with modifications with MSPs and CTPs.
Ron Wright’s presentation is currently being enhanced -
it will be posted here as soon as it is ready!
